bâlelatina wants to establish a cultural and commercial field where the most outstanding collectors, curators, journalists and public will meet to enjoy and evaluate the best Latin Art. The Selection Committee and the curatorial adviser for this edition, Osvaldo Sánchez, have devoted every means in choosing the thirty nine (39) participating galleries.

SITE SANTA FE ANNOUNCES GLOBAL PARTNERS FOR SEVENTH INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL EXHIBITION IN 2008

Laura Steward Heon, Director of SITE Santa Fe and Lance Fung, SITEs 2008 Biennial curator, are pleased to announce the international partners for the Seventh International Biennial exhibition scheduled to run from June 22 through October 26, 2008. Opening weekend festivities are scheduled from June 20-22.

Fung aims to redefine the paradigm of a biennial through international collaboration by establishing a unique global partnership with a variety of non-profit visual arts organizations that share SITEs same enthusiasm and commitment to mission. As of press time, he has selected 15 geographically and culturally diverse institutions to participate in the 2008 Biennial. Each partnering organization will propose three artists whose work best represents that institutions ideological framework and curatorial philosophy. From this group, Mr. Fung will select one artist from each institution to participate in his biennial exhibition. These chosen artists will come to Santa Fe and create a new commissioned work for the Biennial.

Fung commented: ‘I want to do more than just another big group exhibition - I want to redefine the biennial through collaboration and offer a new approach in keeping with the history of SITE’s Biennials. I want to find other like-minded organizations worldwide that share the same energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to mission that SITE has. My goals are to raise awareness of SITE itself, showcase the flavor of each collaborator, inspire learning, and bring people together for a broad sea-change in visual arts programming.
