Call for artist submissions @ Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre
Wednesday, October 11th, 2006Two deadlines: October 20, 2006 and April 20, 2007
The Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre is a year round public art gallery and creative gathering space, located in the refurbished 1868 Victoria Railway station in Haliburton, Ontario. As a public, non-profit institution reflecting and serving the public interest, we have two main functions; to exhibit art and to cultivate an understanding and appreciation of it through dynamic, accessible public programming.
We present a balanced schedule of exhibits which introduce a variety of arts practices, media, and techniques; impact perceptions; highlight diversity; provoke discussion and heighten awareness of the work of local, regional and national artists.
Exhibits in the 860 s.f Highland Room run for 4-6 weeks. We invite proposals from artists working in any media. Member artists may also apply for exhibitions in our Members’ Gallery.
Your proposal will include:
* Artist Statement - Ideally, your statement will address a clear body of work that centres on a theme or question. Links between subject matter, your choice of medium and your philosophy should be highlighted.
* Current resume or CV,
* 10 -20 examples of recent artist’s work on slide or disc, labelled to correspond with support materials list,
* Support materials list which includes title of each work, date, medium and size of work,
* A paragraph describing how the artist might incorporate public or educational programming
* Self-addressed stamped envelope for return of results and materials.
